To Thine Own Heart be True~ a quickpage freebie

To thine own heart be true.

Now that is a powerful statement isnt it? I have always loved that quote from Shakespeare's Hamlet.

I wonder how many of us have or are being true to our own hearts? Being true enough to our hearts to know the path we wish to tread. Yes, going where we wish to in life, instead of one that was planned for us by someone else. Being a leader of ones own destiny, instead of following someone elses ideal of what we should be or do. Takes a lot to be an independent minded person and to be able to stand up for your own belief and value system. Its highly personal isnt it.

Because if one cannot be true to oneself about the desires of the heart, one cannot be truthful about much else. Sometimes it takes a while to realize what is in our own heart. Perhaps that has to do with being taught as a child denial of ones heart desires rather than to encourage free thought and spirit.

Having raised three children, now all in their twenties, two of which are already parents themselves, I realized what I lacked as a child myself growing up was something I needed to try hard to instill in my own children. Independence, a heart full of spirit and determination. Belief in oneself and ones ability to tackle the tasks at hand. Standing up for what one believes in, no matter how much someone else who does not believe the same way, tries to pressure you.
It is something I work on every day for myself as well. To realize what my own hearts desire is, and to try to achieve what may seem impossible at times. For me, that has changed in recent years, that is to always try to find balance in my life, to try to recognize what my own personal needs are and to try to take better care of myself not just others. The older I get, the more I realize how much I have set aside in what I wanted to do and now have time to do for myself. A mothers main focus is her children, until they are old enough to grow up and be on their own. But what happens when your children grow up and move on in their own lives, just as they should. A mother comes to realize a different path is ready to be trod. How exciting! There is now more time to achieve goals of personal nature.

So, in order to bring to the forefront today "To thine own heart be true"...I am offering my online friends here on the blog a quickpage on that theme. I hope you enjoy it.

Available in the most popular formats. Take note that the journaling areas are blank for you to fill in with your own words. The sampler is just my own interpretation of the quickpage.

Please do leave a comment if you download.

Enjoy~

Spring has sprung! A Be Jeweled qp Freebie to Celebrate~

WOW!
Spring is finally here and my yard is growing lots of blooms for the future. Soon there will be open blooms of tons of peony in many colors and much more. Tulips have been blooming the past week or so. My lilacs are either blooming or starting to bloom. We have 19 Lilac shrubs in the yard, most of them in different varieties. Last year we missed the blooms as frost came and killed them off before they could bloom. So this year is special. We are expecting a frost tonight and are praying that we will not have our fruit trees and shrubs effected.
We have been very busy outside with getting our vegetable garden ready, the herb wheel, prepping our flower gardens, and mowing grass. The past several days I have been planting lots of flower seeds to fill in empty spots left in the flower gardens from last years terrible drought we experienced. We lost some flowers, trees and shrubs. I hope Mother Nature is kinder to us this year. I started wintersowing my seeds in baggies and have already got tomato, pepper and flower seedlings started up. We have got a lot of heirloom varieties I have traded for and I am excited to try new ones out. Tomatoes are my favorite summer veggie! We home can and freeze our vegetables and this year will be no exception, especially with the economy the way it is.

Looking back, its been since February that I last posted. Indeed it has been a while. But behind the scenes, I am still creating as much as ever and have gotten quite a few good lessons in on digital creation. I've been having lots of fun doing it. I have not forgotten my blog, as I visit here often. I love to come here and just listen to the music list.

We have a new granddaughter born in October and she finally got to meet us about a month ago, when they all moved back here at home, from Washington State. She is a joy and such a good baby! We have already gotten to babysit for her twice. I am so glad to have her here!

Anyway, to celebrate Spring in 'Royal' style, I have created a Be Jeweled quickpage to share with you. It is available in several different formats.
Be jeweled is the perfect foil for some special moments you might have. As you'll notice in the sampler pic, I took two photos of my Mother, who died when I was just five years old, which were in black and white, and re colorized them. Most of the photos I have of my Mom are in b&w and so I really wanted to see how my Mom looked 'in living color'. I think the Be Jeweled quickpage was perfect for her photos. I hope you'll enjoy the quickpage and add some of your own special moments.
Be Jeweled incorporates some of the new lessons I have taken to be creative, including my hand drawn scrolls, gems, the journal papers, velvet ribbon, as well as the frame used. The background paper was one I created quite a while ago but put it through some processes to achieve a more time worn look. I really love the colors and hope you do too!
If you download, please leave a comment.

Memories of my Grandma

As I was compiling a list of songs for this blogs playlist jukebox I was overcome with memories over certain songs. Does that ever happen to you? Perhaps you had not heard a song in years and it wisked you back to a certain memory, time, place, and emotions.

Music has always been a way for me to connect emotionally. But some songs are more so than others. Such was the case with memories of my Grandma Toby. She was a woman who lived her life simply. I lived with her for a few months after my Mom died when I was five. She babysat many of her grandchildren anyway when her sons and their wives worked so I got to know my cousins a little bit better because at that time (we are talking the mid sixties here) kids were left with family members when their parents worked.

Grandma Toby's simple living has stuck in my head and heart. She had a pot bellied coal stove in her house and it kept the little brown house warm. I remember her making breakfast for all of us kids and we had oatmeal and hot buttered cinnamon sugar toast from her gas oven. (No toaster and it tasted better than any I have had since).

I remember her 40's and 50's styled furniture and the big floral patterns of slipcovers or heavy, scratchy upholstery on the furniture. Grandma did not have an abundance of money but she sure had an abundance of love for her grandkids.

When I was older I became aware of the music Grandma listened to. My Uncle, her youngest son was only a few years older than me and he had vinyl albums of Carole King and Neil Young. It was then, in the 70's and I would visit her and we would listen to the music on a small turntable. She loved the song 'Old Man' by Neil and whenever I hear it to this day, I think of my Grandma Toby. It lifts me up and makes me remember her with a smile though she has long passed away, memories of her have attatched themselves to bits of music, smells and tastes, colors and patterns of things.

It was due to these memories I created "Remembering Grandma" a digital scrapbooking quickpage. The flowers in this qp remind me of the 40's and 50's style of patterns found in Grandma's little old brown house. It is a comfortable 'feeling' I get from it.

I miss my Grandma Toby very much. This qp is in her honor~

It uses some of the handdrawn Paisley designs I have been creating for ages and oil painted roses. I will add a photo here of the qp. Those that wish to leave a comment and put their email address in the comment will get the link to the download for "Remembering Grandma".

I enjoy creating digi scraps. I would like to share them with others, however, they will only be offered in exchange of commentary from now on. I think its a small price to pay for getting these creations in exchange. If you wish to have this please leave comment, with email addy and preference as to what format you would like "Remembering Grandma" quickpage in. I will send you the link to whatever you prefer.

"In the Pink!" A November Freebie for You~

Wow, It has certainly been a long while since I have last posted. To be honest, a lot has happened. We have had a death in the family and then a birth. What a complex set of emotions between the two of these events.

The death was my Husbands cousin. Very sad, he died very young and unexpectedly. I wont go into detail here about things but it was a very unexpected death. It really took a toll emotionally on the family as he was only 35 yrs old.

~~~~
The birth, was our new granddaughter. She is two weeks old now and how sweet and cute she is! Sadly my son lives across the US from where my husband and I live, and we have not yet seen her but hope to soon when they are all planning to bring her for a holiday visit. We are very happy about that!
To celebrate our sweet new granddaughters birth, I have created a treat to share with everyone. It is called "In the Pink!", a quick page made up of things I have been busy hand drawing and making digi elements out of. In the Pink! has a 'crochet' look to the background that I created with a brush I made and the border as well. I handdrew and then scanned in the heart, scrollwork design, and floral design. The frames I created totally out of digital effects. I hope you enjoy the quickpage.
If I get enough response on it, I will offer for a special time, a kit of my doodles, scrolls, hearts and more. Its a pretty large assortment that gets bigger all the time.
Just because I have not been posting here, does not mean I havent been busy working on lots of digital scrap projects. I am still working away on my paisley designs. Thinking about offering a kit of 'build your own paisley!'.
What do you think? Leave a comment! Encouragement is a wonderful motivator!
Grab and go and never leaving thoughts is not much to encourage a digital creator to offer their designs for free. Feedback is really a nice thing that helps others to put up for free, what they have spent literally tons of hours on.
The quickpage I am offering today is available in two zip files. One is strictly the corel psp format, the others are .png and .psd available in a zip together.
If you need another format, let me know, I will be happy to try to oblige.
September Mystique quickpage Gift (FREEBIE)
The newest creation I am offering to my blog readers today is my Mystique quickpage. It came about by accident, while I was busy creating something else, this background came up in the patterns as I was processing things along and I just fell in love with the look. I put it through a few more filters and thought I would make a quickpage out of it. Added to the Mystique paper are my own hand drawn leaf fronds. These I did in pastels. You'll be seeing more of these fronds in other creations as I have them in many colorations and I really loved the texture of them.
I love to hand draw things in my watercolor pencils, pastels and LaPlume Drawing markers. I even blend the three of these to get fabulous color, textures and depth.
I hope you enjoy the Mystique quick page, as it was really fun to create. Initally I thought to offer the flowers cut out as frames, but they looked so neat as they were, I thought, if the user wished to cut out the opening it would be more up to individual taste.
I have made Mystique available in all the popular formats.
First download is strictly pspimage
http://www.mediafire.com/?2bxg9taqkbm
Next download is jpeg, png and psd
As always, it is lovely to hear your commentary on my creations. Thanks in advance to all who take the time to leave their thoughts. It means a lot~
Floral Celebration~ Textured Papers and a quickpage freebie
NOTE:
DOWNLOAD LINKS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED!! IF YOU TRIED TO DOWNLOAD THESE PREVIOUSLY AND HAD TROUBLE, PLEASE DO TRY AGAIN, AS I HAVE SWITCHED HOSTS, THE PREVIOUS ONE HAVING SOME KIND OF 'GROWING PAINS'!
New gift offering (aka Freebie!) for you all today: Floral Celebration textured papers and a quickpage made with the series. I just loved the texture and clarity of the pages so much. I created them a while back and they were for my own private use but I decided to share them.
The glow of the texture is lost again in jpeg above but the originals in zip for you are in glorious color of pspimage file. (again, if someone needs another format, let me know, I only tend to put the format up I use). These papers and quickpages are in 3600x3600. I am wondering if this size is a good size to continue to make my pages in. I think I will do a poll. I hope you let me know what you would like to see here.
Today I worked on angel wings with turned out rather well. I have a bit of spiffing up to do on them yet. Do you like angel wings too? I would love to create some 'fairie' wings some time and I think that may well be on the agenda on down the line.
On with todays goodies....
These are rather large and so are in individual zips. I chose to not put these in jpeg, but to leave them in psp image format because the textures and colors were changed so much that it effected the quality to do so.
You can download just the ones you wish or all of them.
DOWNLOAD LINKS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED (I had to put them on another file hosting service as Divshare is having some kind of growing pains and will not connect at all)
On the Edge of Paisley (2 new freebies w/ more to come~)
I am hopelessly addicted to Paisley~ I love it in all its many forms and use it in decorating around the house, my own clothing and creating things. So it has been an ongoing challenge for me to create my own paisley patterns in digi-scrap.
Part of the challenge has been the hand drawing of my own patterns, then scanning them in and of course getting creative with them in PSP XI. I have been having a lot of fun with Paisley and the first offerings are in a set I call "On the Edge of Paisley".
There will be much more to come in this series but for now the first two parts are a quick page and a photo collage.
If I would get a response thats receptive I was thinking about offering a 'build your own' Paisley and having a little bit of fun challenge with it, seeing what everyone can come up with. But as it is, very few people respond at all, although the downloads are going very well.
Above the sample picture of the two Paisley freebies~, below will be the download links. Please note: I am no longer offering freebies without a download password. Make sure you write it down, it will just be for the initial download and you will not need it to open the zip. This is for security issues.
So, I decided to share it as the next freebie for you all. Sunday Freebies! Wow 2 days in a row!
I've been up since 4am, could not sleep. So, sitting here at the computer being creative. My lack of sleep is your Sunday Freebie 'gain'. :O)
I hope you enjoy the creations~.As you will see, again, I love the use of color and splash it as much as possible. I hate the mundane. Give me vibrant!
Above is a quick page made out of a background paper I made from handdrawn flowers, frames I scanned and processed in PSPxi, and digi photos of the angels in my gardens. I hope you enjoy it..it is called "Someone 2 Watch Over U qp".
Download it here:
Next is a wonderful textured set of Raspberry colors with Sunflowers in various colors, a solid paper and a vellum to match. The textures on the raspberry set remind me of Aida clothe when you get up close. I didnt want to lose the brilliant color or texture by putting these in jpeg so they are in psp format. If you need these in another format you can let me know and I will try to oblige.
Here is Raspberry Sunflower paper pack:
